But Jin Park, the youngest lottery winner, had a different opinion after winning the grand prize. She asked everyone to be careful what they wish for, and she went on to say

I was 17 when I won a million pounds at the Euromillions, and I was too young to win that much money. Jane Park told hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford that at first she was happy to have won the jackpot. "My mom and I were screaming. It was so surreal. I just couldn't believe it." When asked about the advice she received on how best to manage the huge amount deposited in her bank account, Park admitted that it was a challenge. And she went on, "Obviously at 17, I was young, and I was put in front of financial advisors and I didn't quite understand what they were saying." Park admits that she initially dabbled in cars and jewelry - encouraged by her family but careful to make sure it wasn't excessive. And about some of the suffering caused by winning the award, Park said:

"I bought a property, moved in, and then felt very lonely." Once the thought of winning the lottery wore off, I soon began to feel lonely. She continued, "I didn't have one. Obviously, I had family and stuff but there were days when I would sit by myself watching TV during the day and think 'that's not me'". She admits that while she still has a close circle of friends, they are embarrassed because they don't want to rely on her and offer to "pay their own way". This often leads to arguments in stores when Park offers to buy something for them. Park recently appeared on a Dr. Phil special, The Curse of the Lottery, where she shared her most disturbing experiences. This included "stalkers, death threats, people hiding in the bushes," as well as the pressures that come with being in the limelight. She describes the experience as "horrible" and says she "would not wish that on anyone". Park said she doesn't regret the money she spent. The former lottery winner also revealed that she almost died after going abroad for plastic surgery, which led to her hospitalization for blood poisoning. Now, Park is calling for a change to the age limit on lottery tickets because winning at 17 means you're either "still in school" or you're just starting to make decisions about your future.
